Fish Fest
The Christian Surfers Fish Fest is a unique and creative alternative surf competition for all ages, styles, and abilities. Set against the stunning backdrop of Mount Maunganui, this event is designed to be fun for both competitors and spectators alike.
This isn’t your typical surf comp — it has a twist! We feature four beautiful twin-fin fish surfboards, hand-crafted by Taranaki legend Cain Aldridge of CSA Surfboards. In each heat, the four competitors will each ride one of these four boards, ensuring everyone has the same craft to showcase their skills. Thanks to four amazing churches who have generously donated these boards - we couldn’t have done this without them! Every placegetter will receive a small prize, but the main prize is extra special - the four twin-fin surfboards will be raffled off to four lucky competitors at the end of the event! Come along to this epic competition and enjoy a weekend of surfing, community, and good vibes!

Join us in Mount Maunganui for this year’s Christian Surfers Fish Fest (dates TBC)
Entry is $45 and includes a chance to win one of four handcrafted surfboards shaped by Cain Aldridge CSA Surfboards for the fish fest. Plus spot prizes from our sponsors. Divisions: Open Men, Open Women, U16 Boys, and U16 Girls.
You don’t need your own board for heats, but bring your wetsuit if needed. Leggies, wax, and a sausage sizzle will be provided.
Heats start around 8am (TBC). Rego closes two days before the event. Keep an eye on our socials for updates and stick around after for prize giving and the surfboard giveaway!

Keen to be part of the action? We’d love to have you on the team. We’re looking for volunteers to help with setup, judging, priority judging, beach marshalling, registrations, media (photo and video), MC crew, event assistance, and the BBQ. It’s an epic way to serve, connect with others, and be part of what God’s doing in the surf community.

Do I need to be a Christian Surfers member?
Definitely not, this event is open for everyone.

Can I enter more than one division?
Yes, you can enter as many divisions as you like as long as you qualify for each division. You will need to pay a rego fee for each division you enter.
If I enter two divisions, do I get two entries into the board giveaway?
No — each competitor gets one entry into the giveaway, regardless of how many divisions they enter. The draw will be done at the end of the day, with one entry per person who competed.
What if the surf is flat?
We’ll be praying for pumping waves and beautiful weather however, if the waves and weather are not suitable for a comp an alternative comp date may be set. TBC
