Jarred Hancock boosts to Victory

Jarred Hancock from Taranaki took out competition #2 in the Jesus H2 Series in the midst of some strong surfing from across the field. Things were not looking good as strong southerly winds with snow to low levels were predicted, but with a gap in the weather, nothing short of a miracle, the A-Frame at Ning Nong turned on some good clean 2-3 ft waves.
The bar was set pretty high with some explosive surfing from the start. Second placed Blanton Smith showed his intentions with a huge double handed grab in round two and local surfers Tim Hagan and Antony Yearbury both surfed well throughout the competition to take 3rd and 4th respectively.
Mathis Smith followed his brothers lead to take the highest placed Junior and pushed aside some good competition to take very respectable 5th place in the Championship division. In the Plate division Monique Hedges surfed well to take not only the highest placed Women’s but also 4th place with Andy Hill 3rd, Richard (Rat) 2nd and Phil Cochraine taking out 1st position.
It was a great day to get out and share some waves together and raise some money for those in need with all proceeds from the comp going to Surf Aid International. The H2 series was named the Jesus H2 Series to honor Him who deserves it most and Jesus really did come through again after some fun waves at T-Bay last week. Being a part of Saturday was just amazing, truly even the wind and the waves do obey Him and we should too. So thanks to all who came along and made the day what it was. The series will be wrapped up later in the year with the details for competition #3 to be confirmed. We will keep you posted. Until then…
